EAT DRINK DESIGN

Best restaurant – high commendation

"Tetsujin is a Japanese restaurant in Emporium, Melbourne. The narrow 7m linear site is spatially defined for 3 different dining experiences: the sushi train, the Izakaya, and the bar. The design is characterized by opposite extremes of order, system and repetition versus chaos, heat and energy."

THE URBAN LIST

Looking for a pre-show night out, or somewhere to fill your appetite before a weekend drinking session?

"A new Japanese offering has arrived at Melbourne's Emporium, and is fast becoming our go-to for casual CBD dining. With a large range of options on offer, Tetsujin not only fulfills our craving for a great, high-end sushi train in the city, but also delivers a contemporary Japanese BBQ space that feels a whole lot sexier than the Teppenyaki grills of days past."

BROADSHEET

Courting the Sushi Train

"In Australia, sushi trains aren’t generally synonymous with quality dining. Neither is eating in a food court, or ordering from an iPad."

The Best Sushi Trains In Melbourne’s CBD

"The newest train conductor on the block, Emporium’s Tetsujin boasts a bright, industrial space with unparalleled views of Melbourne’s skyline. iPads (and extremely sick neon-lit train handles), accompany every table."
